This year’s UK Wedding Show Liverpool will be held in the beautiful and historic St. George’s Hall. The Grade I listed building will play host to an exciting collection of exhibitors, catering for every aspect of the Big Day.
Construction of the hall began in 1842 but its foundation stone was actually laid in 1838 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Victoria. The Hall was opened for public use in 1854 and its function as a community building was truly diverse; the building collectively acted as courtroom, ballroom and concert hall.
After a recent £23 million award-winning refurbishment project, the Hall now proudly stands in prime position as one of the countries most prolific cultural establishments as well as conducting community, civic and performing arts activities. The Hall has always been at the centre of community life in Liverpool; in 2008, St. George’s Hall hosted the ceremony for the ‘Capital of Culture People’s Opening’ and was attended by 65,000 people.
Architecturally, the Hall stands in a league of its own and is in possession of the largest tunnel vaulted ceiling in Europe. Magnificent red granite columns support the ceiling, complete with Victorian figures dedicated to art, science, fortitude and justice.
The Hall also boasts one of the greatest brick arches in the world and a priceless mosaic floor made up of 30,000 tiles. The Hall’s 7000-pipe concert organ is only second in size to that of the Albert Hall.
Visitors to St. George’s Hall can drop by the Heritage Centre, complete with the original prison cells that held Victorian criminals awaiting trial. Exhibitions, reconstructions and hands-on activities provide a greater understanding of the Hall and its place within the city of Liverpool.
So come and witness its magnificence yourself on the 19th or 20th September at the UK Wedding Show Liverpool. Register online before the 18th for an advance booking discount!

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt! Lucy Van Pelt (in Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz)
According to romantic lore, chocolate has historically always been known for its aphrodisiac qualities. Chocolate lovers will testify that no other food produces the same sensual pleasure and response when eaten. Chocolate also contains the chemical phenethylamine, otherwise known as the ‘love chemical’ which is thought to trigger feelings that are similar to falling in love.
Romance and chocolate have traditionally always gone hand in hand and a gift of chocolate is usually given as a token of love.
Chocolate lovers will be able to indulge at this years UK Wedding Show in Liverpool and dive into the chocolate fountains on display provided by chocolate fountain specialists Augustus Gloop’s.
As irresistible as it is, be sure to check out the other exhibitors before drowning in gooey chocolatey loveliness!
So to indulge with us, make sure you book tickets for the Liverpool Wedding Show here, but be quick, you’ve got until 18th to get your advance booking discount!

The Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, Rt Revd John Packer will be available along with the church team in Harrogate at 12.30pm on Sunday September 27th, and the Bishop of Bradford, Rt Revd David James will be on the church stand from 2pm-4pm on Saturday September 26th.
Bishop John Packer commented:
“We will be working hard to let people know we welcome them for a wedding, whether they go to church or not.”
On the day, they will have information about the new regulations which allow you get married in a wider range of buildings, examples of hymns and readings you can use, as well as tips on planning the day.
