A New Concept in Shapewear

September 6th, 2010 by Kate

Ardyss emerged in 1991 with new concepts in the manufacture of corsetry and have gone from strength to strength in the industry through the research and development of its range of products. The exclusive garments are designed with the support of a team of engineers, doctors, cosmetologists and nutritionists and provide a really exciting option for brides in pursuit of the perfect figure. Rather than struggling to lose weight for the big day with fad diets, pills, harsh exercise regimes or surgery, brides should consider the benefits of garments that tackle the problem areas without risks to their health.

Body Magic is a garment designed by an orthopaedic surgeon which uses “Lipo Transportation” technology to transform the body shape immediately by moving fat to where it needs to be to sculpt the figure ie. the breasts and buttocks. An immediate drop of 2-3 dress sizes can be experienced when trying on the garment, with sustained change of the body through extended use. Seeing is believing, so a fitting is essential.

ArdyssUKShop will be exhibiting with The UK Wedding Shows at Harrogate International Centre in September where brides will be able to arrange a fitting in specially designed bridal shapewear. Lots of brides worry about fitting in to their dream wedding dress and this gives them an opportunity to address their fears with garments which burn fat through compression and show results over 3-4 months. Brides will be able to drop 2-3 dress sizes straight away and achieve a sleek silhouette under the most fitted gowns.

Please visit www.ardyssUKShop.com for more information.

Hints and Tips and Etiquette

August 25th, 2010 by Kate

Once couples announce their engagement the mother of the bride traditionally contacts the parents of the groom to arrange to meet if they have not already done so. This is a chance to admire the engagement ring and may be the first stage in discussing what is planned for the wedding, so the meeting is best held at a restaurant or other neutral location so that the parents are not expected to play host.

It can be difficult when families are more fragmented and one or both sets of parents may be divorced. If this is the case, but everyone is on good terms then a joint meeting can be arranged. If not then it is important to establish from the outset what roles parents and step parents are to play at the wedding. Perhaps the bride wants to be escorted up the aisle by her birth father, but would like her step father to make a speech at the reception.

As long as people know what the expectation is, this can avoid embarrassment or hurt feelings as the day approaches. It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time as the saying goes, but most wedding guests will want to go along with what will make the bride and groom happy.

Thank you letters for engagement presents should not be overlooked and couples should make sure that they don’t forget to organise small gifts for the bridesmaids, best man and ushers on the wedding day. It is a nice touch to have flowers presented to the mothers of the bride and groom during the groom’s speech, and this should be done regardless of who has paid for what.

It is traditional for the happy couple to exchange gifts on the wedding day, but as more and more couples live together before getting married it can be difficult to come up with something original. A small personal token is likely to be well received by both parties, and is another reminder in all of the wedding day whirl of why they fell in love in the first place.

How To Choose A Wedding Photographer

August 16th, 2010 by Kate

Picking a wedding photographer can be a daunting task. It seems there are so many to choose from and so many options with packages of all kinds that you quickly get overwhelmed. Here are a few pointers that I wish I had been given when I chose a wedding photographer.

First and most importantly, find a photographer that you connect with. You only get one chance to take great wedding photos and if you don’t feel comfortable with the photographer, you will look awkward, unnatural, or reserved. To get the true emotion of your wedding day, you want a photographer that knows your REAL smile and laugh. You also want to be able to ask the photographer for their opinion and for special requests. And maybe you will create a great relationship so a few years down the road you can get great family pictures with your kids (not that that’s in the cards at the moment.)

Secondly, pick a photographer with experience. A good photographer will have taken photos of, at least, 100 weddings. Just like most things, photographers get better with time and experience. They will know what works well and what doesn’t. Make sure they use professional equipment and not just a point-and-shoot camera, even if it looks fancy.

Third, know what you want. Decide what you want the photographer to do and where you want them to be before you meet with them (take photos of the wedding ceremony, reception, wedding breakfast, the bride and groom getting ready before the wedding, formal family pictures after the ceremony, etc.) Most photographers will have packages that include some or all of the things that you want. They contain common combinations of what many brides are looking for. BUT…they are not set in stone. You can always add to them things that you want, or take things away that you don’t. If a package doesn’t include an album and you desperately want an album but don’t really care for a bridal shoot, let the photographer know. They will be happy to customize any package to suit your needs AND budget.

Fourth and finally, is a don’t. DON’T choose a photographer for what type of album they offer. Any photographer can get any type of album made. Just ask! Almost all photographers don’t make the albums themselves. They have another company make them and pass them on to you. Unfortunately, that is why they are so expensive. If you choose a photographer for the album they offer but they take horrible photos, you will just be putting those same horrible photos into your expensive keepsake, never to be looked at again because you don’t like the way your arm looks or the lighting is just not right.

Hopefully this will help you choose the right photographer for you so you’ll be able to remember the emotion and joy of your wedding day and look back fondly.

International Wedding Photographer, Talia has been capturing the emotion of brides on their wedding day across the US and Mexico for over 6 years. Finally available in the United Kingdom, with the experience and knowledge of shooting over 200 weddings, she anticipates a busy schedule as she unveils her talents to Britain. The Wedding Guest Blues !

August 10th, 2010 by Kate

Sue Trapp gives her suggestions for a novel wedding gift as a guest blogger this month.

I love it when my friends and family invite me to share in their joyous occasions like weddings! My first thought is, Oh, what fun! The next thought is Oh, gosh, I need to go shopping for a gift! Now the question of what to give comes sweeping in! I was always in a quandary as to what to buy the new couple, especially if I don’t know what the newlyweds want or need. Finding a solution to this problem is what led me to Foldin’ Money.com

I like giving cash because it’s the most useable and practical gift I can think of. So how to give cash in a personal way that didn’t require expertise or a huge investment in time or materials became my challenge! Being a budget minded person, as most of us are, I found Foldin’ Money Kits were the perfect way to give a gift of cash in a thoughtful and personal manner and still stay within my budget!

Giving money and still looking cool doing it is what these kits are all about! They are easy to make, and always a hit with the newlyweds! I feel the satisfaction of creating a handmade gift that is practical, useable and fun to give. The real beauty of these gifts is that they can be unfolded and spent wherever the new couple wants! It’s a real memory maker!

If you want to try this for yourself, you can find designs at www.foldinmoney.com.

Top 5 Reasons Why Cash Is Better Than Giving Stuff As A Wedding Gift:

  1. It never needs dusting.
  2. If someone throws it at you, it won’t hurt if it hits you.
  3. It doesn’t break.
  4. It is always the right colour.
  5. You never have to worry about receipts for returns.

Try foldinmoney.com to see how to give your cash with a touch of class! For more great gift ideas go to www.foldinmoney.com

Wedding Photography Checklist

July 23rd, 2010 by Kate

Mark Skeet is a wedding photographer and shares some tips to consider when you’re selecting the person to cover your wedding.

  • Do your research – look at lots of photographers’ work – whose images speak to you?
  • Meet 2 or 3 – seek to look at complete albums and galleries, most will only show their best work on the web. Consistently good results are the key.
  • Do you like the presentation and design of the albums/art that the photographer shows you?
  • Will you have to handle your guests’ orders or does the photographer have capability to handle this direct with those guests who wish to purchase prints?
  • Who do you get on with? You will spend most of the most important day of your life around your photographer better make sure you feel you can get on with them. Whose personality gels best with yours?
  • What’s your budget? The photographs are your family’s first heirloom and the only thing that remains after the wedding. You should realistically set aside a minimum of 10-15% of your total wedding budget for photography that will do your day justice.
  • Do they have insurance? – all professional photographers should have public liability and professional indemnity insurance. If they use anyone to help they are legally required to have employers’ liability insurance.
