Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

“Many people are surprised to discover that a church wedding is now a lot easier, and probably less expensive than they think.”

They will be speaking to people who may need advice, or want to ask questions without having to organise a visit to their Church or arrange an appointment with their Reverend. Visitors can meet the Bishops and other clergy members in an informal environment, and find out if a Church wedding is for them, and what is involved.

The Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, Rt Revd John Packer will be available along with the church team in Harrogate at 12.30pm on Sunday September 27th, and the Bishop of Bradford, Rt Revd David James will be on the church stand from 2pm-4pm on Saturday September 26th.

Bishop John Packer commented:

“We will be working hard to let people know we welcome them for a wedding, whether they go to church or not.”

On the day, they will have information about the new regulations which allow you get married in a wider range of buildings, examples of hymns and readings you can use, as well as tips on planning the day.
