The Wood Norton Hotel - A Romantic Place to Propose

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013

The Wood Norton Hotel, Worcestershire was originally owned by European Royalty, and it was the venue for the marriage of Princess Louise of Orleans – the Grandmother of the present King of Spain.

To add to the hotels romantic atmosphere, the hotel is very lucky to have the Princess Louise suite. The suite consists of a bedroom, sitting room, huge bathroom and original Juliet balcony.

A recent photoshoot at the hotel shows how this could be the ideal romantic setting for a proposal or for a wedding, utilising this fantastic Grade II listed mansion with its original decorative French interior, extensive grounds and formal gardens; licensed to host civil ceremonies within the Hall but also specialising in exclusive use wedding house parties and smaller, more intimate, bespoke affairs.

Interesting and Unique Wedding Venues

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

Couples who are looking for a different setting for their wedding have a new resource at their disposal called Hire Space. Reuben Sagar is part of the entrepreneurial team behind London’s leading venue website and writes regularly for Yahoo! about venues. He gives us the low down on some unusual places all of which can be found on Hire Space.

“The search for the perfect wedding venue is often about as hard as finding the perfect partner. There may be plenty more fish in the sea, but there aren’t so many venues up on dry land. What’s more, the most well known venues are often snapped up before you’ve even heard of them. To help here’s my selection of the best unusual wedding venues in London.

To start, I have a new venue which has just come up for grabs. Available on a dry hire basis (you can bring your own caterer and drinks), 35 Commercial Road is located on the edge of the City in a former Jonny Walker warehouse. The history comes through with exposed wooden floors and brickwork. This blank canvas space has East London style but with a tube link and toilets!

Next up is is my favourite historical venue in London, Watermens’ Hall. A livery hall, the venue is full of curiosities and beautiful design. The space isn’t as large as some of the bigger Livery spaces in London, but it has a unique feel and isn’t so well known so has good availability throughout the year.

If you like to avoid the city smoke, the Wetlands Centre in West London is paradise. Located in London’s most lovely nature reserve this venue will give you a feeling of peace and tranquillity on your big day (unlikely but true!). They have a choice of two spaces depending on the size of your party, the ‘Wetland Living’ space is particularly beautiful.

Fourth on my list is a school! Yes that place you swore you would never go back to!! But, this is not any ordinary school, Mill Hill is one of London’s oldest educational establishments, and their large dining hall is as atmospheric and visually appealing as any West End venue. And don’t worry the catering is as far from school dinners as you can possibly imagine…

The venue bringing up the incredibly well designed rear of my lovely list is the Smokehouse Gallery at Forman’s Fish Island. Overlooking the Olympic Stadium, Forman’s is a unique venue with unique appeal. The space is very modern and could be a little clinical for some people’s taste but is one of my favourites.”
