Your wedding entertainment is one of the most important parts of your wedding planning and not suprisingly one of the things brides-to-be worry about the most. You’ll want to ensure your guests have a great time and that everything runs smoothly but most importantly you should be able to relax and enjoy your evening reception and have fun with friends and family.
A photo booth does it all. It provides excellent entertainment (just wait until you hear the laughter coming from the booth) and memories that will last a lifetime. Your guests get a photo momento (or several as is often the case) and you get a guestbook brimming with photos and messages from loved ones.
At the West of England Wedding Show we will be showcasing our brand new product, Party Print. Party Print enables your guests to send their own photographs taken throughout the day on their smart phones or tablets to the photo booth to be printed. These pictures are also saved onto disc for the Bride and Groom and can also be personalised with the same borders/text as the photo booth photos. Its the modern version of the old disposable table cameras which were popular a few years ago without the headache of getting the photos developed. You get to see all those spontaneous moments that you might have missed and the guests get a copy too. This is usually priced at £199 but will be just £99 this weekend, 8th and 9th February, as a special show offer.
Other popular entertainment options include Fun Casino Tables - nothing like a bit of friendly competition to get the party going, Close-up Magic - perfect during your drinks reception, retro games, fireworks, mimes and more. Of course you’re going to need music too but will it be a live band or DJ? We’ve noticed Kareoke is making a bit of a come back - how about recording a videoke in the booth (yes, we do that too).
Whatever you choose, keep the following in mind:
1 Don’t have too much. It can be tempting to have it all and throw the party of a lifetime but the reality is your guests become too segregated and will ultimately be overwhelmed.
2 Do your homework. Unfortunately we’ve seen many photo booth companies come and go over the last few years leaving upset brides in their wake. It’s true of any industry but your wedding day is important. Check the company’s reviews and facebook page as well as their website and make sure they have the correct insurance and elecrical certificates. Wedding shows are fantastic as you get to meet the people who will have such a big impact on your special day.
With Smiley Booth you can rest assured you are in safe hands. As the first event photo booth company in the UK we are very experienced and all our staff are friendly and professional. We are exhibiting in February 2014, so come and see us on stand number 125 and we can chat all about how to get the most out of your wedding entertainment, and you can have a picture too!

Ntertain Wedding Showcase is a new way for couples to plan the entertainment for their wedding and have a fantastic night out at the same time. By buying a ticket to the event they can see a wide range of artists and decide if one of them might be right for their special event. Groups who attend the showcase and make a booking on the night can also deduct the price of their entrance tickets from the cost of the booking, so if people attend and find the perfect artist they have not paid for tickets and then the full cost of the booking on top, and for those who don’t find exactly what they are looking for, they will have still had a fun night out. We spoke to Lisa from Ntertain for some more details.
“Would you like the exclusive opportunity to source the best in wedding entertainment in one great night out? We are Ntertain – providing you with a unique experience in the wedding entertainment industry. We have created a new and completely interactive way to find your wedding entertainment and suppliers, giving you the chance to try before you buy.
The Ntertain Wedding Showcase nights are a must for any bride and groom, to try out their entertainment before their wedding night. Too many people rely on the venue to book their “Resident DJ”- don’t risk the party of your life by allowing someone else to choose your wedding entertainment. You will be able to see first-hand how an audience reacts to each act, and why not bring along your friends and family for a fabulous night out to help you choose the best act for your big day?
You will be welcomed to our showcase with the opportunity to experience a selection of different wedding elements including wedding cake, casino tables, a photo booth, and of course a chocolate fountain. All this before being seated in the showcase lounge for your full night of entertainment.
At your average wedding fayre you will get to hear one entertainer or band. In the entertainers’ lounge you will experience up to ten different acts, all in their natural environment, on stage, and just waiting to entertain you. Where else can you find an award winning swing singer, exciting retro duo, internationally renowned YouTube star, stunning female vocalist and party function band all on one stage?
We have arranged three fabulous venues to start the Ntertain Wedding Showcase tour across the North West of England covering: Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. The first showcase will be at the superb Hilton Hotel, Blackpool on Friday 8 th November 2013 and will signal the launch of the Ntertain Wedding Showcase tour. For more information head over to our newly launched site - www.Ntertain.co.uk

More and more soon-to-be weds are sidestepping conventional wedding entertainment for something more out of the ordinary. Booking something less run-of-the-mill enables couples to really put on a show that their guests will never forget. Some of the most popular innovative entertainments ideas include fire acts, human tables and stilt walkers. What’s great about these options is that they can be adapted to support a wide array of themes. Let’s take a look at some of the key benefits that you can expect with these performers.
STILT WALKERS
Stilt walkers are mobile enough to wander around your whole party environment, meeting and mingling with your guests as much as you want them to. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including welcoming your guests, distributing materials and generally creating energy and atmosphere. Some stilt walkers have various skills to offer whilst they perform, including fire eating and juggling. They can be as vocal as you want them to be, engaging with the crowd and entertaining them between performances from other acts. They can even be used to control traffic if you need them to! If you’re looking for something that little bit different, then stilt walkers could be the ideal solution.
FIRE ACTS
No one could accuse fire acts of being boring. Whether you’re employing fire eaters, jugglers or other fire performers, you can guarantee that that fire acts will keep your crowd entertained. If safety is a concern, you can rest assured that not only do fire acts have full public liability insurance but they also have years of training behind them, which means that chances of any injuries occurring are extremely small. Fire acts can be asked to mingle with the crowd, but it’s always a good idea to ask them to provide a full stage performance at some point during your celebration, allowing you to make the most of their talents. It’s always possible to ask for a solo fire artist, but the best spectacles generally come when a group of fire performers is booked.
HUMAN TABLES
Human tables can adapt their costumes to fit in with any theme. A human table is what its name would suggest, and they are generally used to mix and mingle with the crowd whilst dispensing drinks, food and other treats. Chances are that many of your guests will have not encountered strolling tables, a fire act or stilt walkers many times before if at all, so if you really want to wow them with something extraordinary why not approach an entertainment agency today?

It is difficult to find wedding entertainment that caters for all guests, but Fancy Features have hit on a great idea which will appeal to all ages. They are an arts entertainment business specialising in Giant Colouring-in art for weddings, parties and events. “We paint a beautiful black and white outline based around the couple’s stories, inspirations, interests or themes. This artwork is then finished or ‘coloured-in’ by your guests at your reception to create a vibrant, unique and personalised picture that captures everyone’s creativity. Interactive creative fun that everyone can contribute to and results in a great piece of art you can display and cherish forever. (This is also mess-free as we use top of the range paint pens to colour-in our artwork!)”
Maria Leyden is the lead artist and Director of Fancy Features and tells us a bit more about the business
“When you order a custom made giant colouring-in I will work with you to design a beautiful piece of art that depicts your themes, ideas and stories. I am a professional artist, with a First Class Honours from London College of Fashion specialising in design for performance and make-up artistry. After working internationally in theatre, TV and film my work progressed into creating art for festivals, events & community groups.
For some time I’ve been committed to making the world a more colourful place! I believe that approaching art in a fun and pressure-free environment develops creativity, fuels the imagination and ignites innovation. The smiles, jokes and laughter are a welcome bonus!”
