Katy and Katie from The UK Wedding Shows were brilliant hosts from start to finish and really made us feel welcome. It's fair to say that we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and have already booked to go back next year!"

This award was presented by Brad Buckles, president of Bridesclub.com who made a special trip from the US to attend the London show. It is a really important purchase and we will do everything we can to assist our brides in making their choice from our extensive selection of designer gowns. This award was presented to Alison who was exhibiting for the first time with The UK Wedding Shows.
Lasting Memories is a family owned business specialising in silk bridal flowers, buttonholes, corsages and bouquets. Alison's stand at the show displayed some fabulous arrangements and there were lots of comments from visitors about the beautifully styled flowers on display. "It was lovely to get an award at our first show and to get positive feedback about what we do. We can also provide fresh flowers by request in addition to other services, but the beauty of the silk arrangements is that they will last for a lifetime without specialist preservation techniques, giving a permanent memory of a very special day"
Jo Gosling was delighted to receive an award at the January show having been in business for just a year. Jo and her partner Clive, who are both car enthusiasts, started the business after being asked by friends if they would loan their family camper van Flossy for wedding transport.
They quickly realised that there was a market for these vehicles to be hired out and that they had enormous appeal for people for special occasions. A further camper van was purchased and a Beetle was then added to the fleet. The most recent acquisition is a 1958 VW camper named Morris which has been shipped in from the US and will be lovingly restored to make it the oldest vintage camper for hire in the UK.
Jo loves the quirky appeal of the vehicles and comments that they make for some fantastic wedding photos, especially if the couple are VW enthusiasts themselves, but don’t have their own vehicle to use. “We get so many lovely comments on our fleet of VW’s and they really seem to bring a smile to people’s faces. It is great to be able to reach a wider audience through coming to the UK Wedding Shows and it was a nice surprise to be presented with an award at our first show!”
The winner of the category for Outstanding Exhibitor was Pink Confetti, a specialist bridal boutique. We spoke to Leigh who was presented with the award to get her reaction.
“We were so excited to receive this award (the squeals of delight could have pierced eardrums!) having been exhibiting with The UK Wedding Shows since their first show at the Ricoh Arena three years ago.
This show was our first major exhibition after we opened our small, independent bridal boutique in June 2010, fulfilling a lifelong dream. At Pink Confetti we truly believe that the experience a bride, together with her friends and family, has whilst choosing her wedding dress and accessories should be a memory to treasure and our focus is all about ensuring that this is the case. This is something we try to replicate as much as we can at the show and it is wonderful that this has been recognised by the organisers.
We have a large range of beautiful, affordable, exclusive wedding gowns from very talented UK based designers. We are passionate about supporting UK design, and where possible manufacture, for all our gowns and accessories.
Although we have only been open less than 3 years our approach seems to be appreciated as we were delighted to be shortlisted as best regional Bridalwear Retailer by the Wedding Industry Awards based on the votes and feedback from our past brides. This certificate, together with our Outstanding Exhibitor award, now has pride of place in our boutique!”
The New Exhibitor award was presented to Becky from Paper Scissors Wedding Stationery with her innovative stand design and fantastic range of products. Becky has a background in graphic design and could not find what she was looking for when she was sourcing stationery for her own wedding, so she decided to design her own. She had a clear idea of what she wanted, and the response to her bespoke design was so overwhelming that she made a decision to start a business, and so Paper Scissors Wedding Stationery was born. The business has been established for almost ten years as a luxury, boutique wedding stationery company that prides itself on using the finest materials, with each piece handcrafted to the highest standard. Becky was delighted to receive an award, commenting “We were extremely honoured to be acknowledged as one of the award winners at the Manchester Central exhibition. We were launching our brand new 2013 vintage and couture collections at the event and we wanted to show them off in the manner they deserved. After thinking long and hard about the design of the stand, we wanted something that was simple, innovative but most of all eye catching and we certainly achieved that. We were inundated with comments about our display and so all of the hard work and headaches along the way were definitely worth it and we were thrilled to have had this recognised by The UK Wedding Shows. As we approach ten years in the business, we are still as passionate about what we do, if not more so. We continue to develop new designs and ideas and you will see that many of our collections include our signature ribbons and bows which are unique to ourselves and allow us to be one of the leaders within our field.”
It was our pleasure to present an award to Josephs Jewellers at the Liverpool show, a company that have exhibited with The UK Wedding Shows for a number of years. Sean from Josephs was delighted with the award in recognition of their commitment to our exhibitions and he said he has seen some changes in the wedding industry over that time that have helped his business to evolve. "We started out over twenty years ago making jewellery and doing repairs for other jewellers and then moved in to the retail side ourselves eleven years ago. We have two shops in Ormskirk along with our boutique shop, Pure, where we showcase our contemporary trend led designs. It is a different experience to meet our customers at the wedding show rather than in our shops, but we try to create a real showroom feel with the set up of our stand, and it is great to meet so many brides and grooms over the weekend and really get a feel for what people are looking for when choosing their wedding rings. We specialise in making bespoke wedding rings to fit exactly with the profile of the engagement ring, and use a fantastic computer assisted design process combining modern technology with the skill of our goldsmiths for stunning results. We offer over three hundred designs, any of which can be used as a starting point to create something unique, whether that is a wedding ring, engagement ring or dress ring, and our designer is on hand to assist with the whole experience. It is great to be recognised for what we do and we hope to exhibit with The UK Wedding Shows for years to come and see our business go from strength to strength".
Lissa Alexandra is a Harrogate based female photographer specialising in wedding photography. She covers weddings in Yorkshire, throughout the U.K and overseas. Lissa loves working with people and mainly shoots in the reportage style. Known for her ease and friendliness Lissa achieves the most natural expressions in photographs. We spoke to her to find out a little about how she got started in the business and to get her reaction on winning an award.
"When I turned 11 my father bought me a film camera for my birthday and I haven't stopped taking photos since! After completing my university degree I spent seven years working in the digital imaging and print industry. Combining my love of art and work experience I discovered my natural instinct for photographic composition. In my spare time I spent many an evening studying photography, from film to digital, resulting in a collection of qualifications and greater photographic understanding. Frustrated from working on other people's images in my full time job I decided it was time to turn my hobby into a profession.
My specialist areas are wedding and lifestyle photography. When I started out I focused mainly on landscape photography, but as my skills developed I've discovered my main passion is reportage photography. Capturing a lover's glance, a friendly wink, a happy tear, all these instants are priceless and I thrive on my challenge to capture them. My timing in capturing the right moment, and expertise in post-production, results in beautiful photos for you to treasure for life.
When Bev and Katy approached me at the show and told me they had a surprise for me, little did I know I was about to get an award! I was so overwhelmed and elated to have received the award for my stand, it meant the world to me. I put all my heart and soul into all elements of my work and for it to be recognised in this way was simply fantastic! Thank you so much for choosing me to receive this award especially from such respected wedding fair organisers - I hope it's a real nod of approval to all my future clients."
The winner of the New Exhibitor award at Harrogate was Krista Antoniou from Krista's Cakes. It is lovely to be able to welcome all of our new exhibitors and especially when we can present an award to one of them. We spoke to Krista to find out a little bit more about her business and get her reaction to being a winner.
"I have been making and designing cakes since I was 12 years old. My nan taught me everything I know and I used to love nothing more than spending Sunday afternoons with her, in her kitchen, making and decorating cakes for friends and family. As I grew up I started to make wedding & birthday cakes for family members, and then 18 months ago decided to set up as a business. My passion lies with giving my clients a personal and unique experience. I like to get to know my clients, hear their stories of how they met, and talk about their dream wedding cake ideas. We then work together to draw up a completely bespoke design, which not only meets their requirements, but also represents their personalities. I treat my clients as I treat my friends; I listen to them and work with them so that they have complete confidence in my product and my service."
Receiving the 'Best New Exhibitor' award made my day! It's my first award as a business and I am absolutely over the moon. It's so great to feel the support of the organisers of The UK Wedding Shows and it has given me a real sense of achievement. I have so far had 9 consultations from the show and all 9 have secured me as their cake designer. The feedback I am receiving is that my display 'blew them away' and that they felt like 'I understood their needs and was very friendly and approachable' ; that is exactly what I strive to achieve"
As a relatively new show in its second successful year it was wonderful to be able to present a couple of awards at this years show. The winner for the Most Creative stand was Liezl Croft Photography who really caught the eye of the organisers with her beautifully papered and furnished stand. We spoke to Liezl after the event to get her reaction to winning the award. " I started my business 6 years ago, and since then I have been in love with my job and my clients! Creating beautiful images and capturing the moments, emotions and personalities of my clients will never fail to fill me with a deep rooted awe and sense of pride in sharing such an important part of their life. For many of my couples I have become their family photographer. Capturing not only their wedding day, but also having the privilege to photograph their tiny little babies when the time comes.
It was a lovely surprise and a great feeling to be presented this award, and to know that all the hard work and long hours meant something and was recognised by the organisers. But best of all, and the biggest sense of achievement, comes from speaking to the brides that came to see me at the show and hearing them all mention what an impression the stand made on them on the day."

This award was presented to Graham and Sue Mitchell, a husband and wife team who drive and conduct for The Yorkshire Heritage Bus Company. The award for the Most Creative stand was presented to Funky Flower Company and Kelly Ann's Cakes who were sharing a stand at this years show. Karen from Funky Flower Company was delighted to receive the award, having exhibited with The UK Wedding Shows for several years. Karen was originally in the corporate world of recruitment when she came to floristry via a college course that she took up to help her relax. She quickly became hooked and saw an opportunity to use her creative talents designing wedding arrangements and bouquets. The business has been successfully built up over the last seven years and Karen does most of the designing herself with the help of two part time staff. This small team enables her to give a personal service to the brides and ensures that the high quality is maintained with every single order. Lots of Karen's commissions come through personal recommendation and she employs a 'save the date' scheme for wedding flowers enabling brides to have a personal consultation and then a series of ongoing appointments to make sure that they have exactly what they wish for on the day. Karen enjoys the interaction with brides and commented that it is a very nice industry to be part of as the brides happiness means great job satisfaction. Karen's dedication means that every bride has a wonderful experience with Funky Flower Company and they can have the beautiful flowers they have always wished for; as Karen says "Our motto is 'We dream in colour' and our brides' dreams can come true with us"

We spoke to Sue Callcutt for the inside story of Sunday Best Vintage and her reaction to winning the award.
"We are inspired by the love of all things vintage and yearned to run our own business, so when threats of redundancy from our further education lecturing jobs occurred just over a year ago, we launch Sunday Best Vintage.
We source good quality vintage china, linen, tableware and accessories and give each piece a new reincarnation. We believe cherished vintage tableware should be enjoyed on any day of the week for a most quintessential English affair, should it be of country garden style or a divine elegant affair and that it is perfect for those who appreciate it like we do and want to have a bespoke touch to their event.
Sunday Best Vintage offers a China Hire, Events Styling, Catering and Hospitality Service and clients have the freedom to embrace as much vintage uniqueness into their special occasion as they wish, by choosing as much or as little of the services on offer.
Our launch into the Wedding market was well researched and we pride ourselves on being able to offer the finer details that make the occasion special, from the use of the silver sugar tongs to pouring wine from a crystal decanter.
Our first year in business has been very exciting with lots of achievements. Winning the Award for Best New Exhibitor at the UK Wedding Show has been a highlight to add to the Award for New Business Entrepreneurs celebrated last autumn. We have met a wealth of exceptionally nice people who have been very complimentary in finding a unique service to meet their needs and pleased to have provided our services for hen do's, pre wedding gatherings, village hall and hotel receptions, all forms of family gatherings and corporate business events."
Sunday Best Vintage
We were delighted to present this award to Kathryn as she has been exhibiting with The UK Wedding Shows for the last twelve years and regularly presents her collections in the catwalk fashion shows. Kathryn has a wealth of experience in design and brings her creative flair to the wedding industry with her unique accessories and tiaras, crystalique bouquets and venetian masks. Kathryn was really appreciative of the award and gave us an insight in to how she came in to the wedding industry. "I have been in the fashion industry working with many top designers for over 20 years and I have a Masters degree in fine art and also in fashion design. I came into the bridal industry through an introduction to Basia Zarzykca of London and was asked to design and make accessories. I am Venetian trained through Countess Haig and I then went on to create my own fashion label. My life revolves around creating for brides mixing vintage and modern together for a really unique look. I want to take this opportunity to thank The UK Wedding Shows for the award which came as a total surprise."
