10 winter hen party ideas via Perfect Wedding Magazine

#UKWS Spreads the Love…via @Perfect Wedding

A winter hen party doesn’t immediately sound all that appealing: with the temperature dropping, the chilly winds picking up, and 90% chance of rain. You might think these aren’t the ideal conditions for a celebratory weekend. But with so many couples opting for winter and early spring weddings , more and more hens are embracing the cold conditions. Here we bring you a few ideas for how to avoid the cold weather and have a hen weekend to remember…

1. Afternoon tea
Hen dos don’t have to be all about jägerbombs and willy straws. It’s easy to have a sophisticated party with a day of tea and cake. When the rain is pouring outside, why not take your hens to a country retreat and warm up in front of a cosy fireplace? Or get out of the windy weather by taking a special tour bus around London, where you can see the capital’s sights while munching on your scones.

2. Winter spa day
Who doesn’t enjoy a day of pampering with a glass of champagne in hand? Lots of hotels now offer special winter spa packages, such as Formby Hall in Southport, which gives guests the full use of the spa, a delicious dinner, winter cocktails and an overnight stay in a luxurious room ¬– bliss!

3. The Pudding Club
Everyone loves snuggling up in the winter with a deliciously traditional British pudding and lashings of vanilla custard. So why not visit The Pudding Club in the Cotswolds, where you will be presented with a light main course, followed by an impressive series of seven (yes SEVEN!) homemade puddings! You will get to judge which pudding is your favourite before receiving a certificate for completing this tasty challenge.

4. Private cinema screening
Get out of the rain and make yourselves comfy at a private showing of your favourite girly film! Whether it’s Bridget Jones’s Diary or Bridesmaids (a very appropriate choice for hen parties), have your popcorn and glasses of champers at the ready.

5. Millinery master class
Millinery parties are all of the rage now. What could be quainter than learning how to make the perfect wedding headpiece over scones and Earl Grey? And what’s even better is that your favourite ladies can make their own hats to wear for your big day! Katherine Elizabeth Millinery offers a package for bridal parties, which you can enjoy alongside afternoon tea.

6. Private cooking session
Get your creative juices flowing by having your very own cookery class. Pick from the many catering companies who put on classes exclusively for hen parties, such as Rachel’s Kitchen, where you can learn how to make an array of treats, from sushi to pretty Parisian macarons.

7. Ice skating
Faux fur bando? Check. Thick socks? Check. Prepared for sores knees and bums? Check. Then you’re ready to embrace the cold and take to the ice! Make the experience even more memorable by skating with a spectacular backdrop, such as Longleat House or Hampton Court Palace, which put on some wonderful ice skating rinks during the winter months. Complete the day with a glass (or three) of mulled wine.

8. Bottomless brunch
You’ll never want to eat lunch again after you’ve tried a bottomless brunch! What does it entail, I hear you cry? A wonderful combination of brunch and an unlimited supply of champagne and bellinis – perfection! Harvey Nichols and Bad Egg in London do these deals in style. So grab your hens, get your eggs pouched and pancakes flipped, and sip on some delicious bellinis for the entirety of the day.

9. Perfume making
Who needs Dior or Chanel when you can make the perfume yourself?! While the wind howls outside, you and your hens can sip champers and create their very own signature fragrances to take home. The Perfume Studio offer some great nationwide hen party packages.

10. Yoga
If you’re hoping for more of an active hen party, but don’t want to face the torrential rain outside, why not book a private yoga session? You and your hens can stretch and relax while working up a sweat indoors. Hotpod Yoga offers a cosy alternative for yoga classes with their inflatable and specially heated studios across England and Wales.
