Denise Welch recently chose Titanic Spa - set in a secluded spot on edge of the Pennines - to celebrate her last few days of single life. The loose woman celebrated in style with 7 of her girlfriends, including Heartbeat star Tricia Penrose and presenter Kate Thornton, but this time chose to rein in the partying, sliding off to bed at a respectable 11pm. Denise shared her excitement by tweeting, ‘Amazing weekend at Titanic Spa and then Loose Women took me for tea at the Ritz! I’m such a lucky girl!’
So, if you’re looking for a hen party to leave you pampered, preened and polished before the big day, follow in Denise’s footsteps and book into the UK’s first eco spa, which offers the perfect hen party package complete with indulgent spa treatments, delicious food and overnight accommodation in a modern apartment creating that ‘sleepover’ style vibe.
The overnight ‘Time to Sparkle’ package includes accommodation in one of Titanic’s luxury serviced eco apartments, which sleep up to 6 guests and come complete with private balcony, kitchen, dining area and plasma screen TV - perfect for screening a classic movie or make like Denise’s hen party and indulge in a bit of old-fashioned karaoke to really get the party started!
After a continental breakfast, enjoy full use of Titanic’s impressive spa facilities including Club Titanic (15m salt regulated swimming pool, hydrozone, steam and sauna rooms and a fully equipped gym) as well as the Titanic Heat experience. The break also includes a Taster Facial, Body Polish or Target Massage, so the bride and hens will leave relaxed and prepped for the big day ahead.
If guests can bear to drag themselves away from the spa, a light lunch and 2 course evening meal at the Bistro restaurant are also included with a Spa Terrace providing alfresco dining - perfect if the sun is shining. The Bistro adds to the ‘eco’ feel of the spa with fresh locally-sourced produce used wherever possible in the delicious yet light dishes.

Hens from Ireland, the United Kingdom, and beyond choose to spend their last night of freedom at some locations in Ireland. Irish hospitality, beer, culture, and the entertainment scene may be some of the reasons why they choose to do so.
Now, for hens that are still thinking about where to have their hen party, night, or weekend, here are five of the best hen party locations in Ireland. One cannot go wrong in choosing one of these locations because of what they have to offer.
Athlone
Athlone is probably one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Ireland. Imagine an island with a castle in its centre. That’s how this town looks from the water. It has that fairy tale like appeal for a lot of hens, much like Prague, which is probably why some brides to be choose to spend their hen night in this town. It is really accessible with a central location and a transport hub which makes it really convenient for a lot of Irish hens.
Besides its ideal location and beauty, this town is also one of the best places for river cruises, sailing, angling, swimming, and bird watching. Most tourists that visit Athlone head to the Glendeer Open Farm and take the Viking Cruise along the River Shannon. Hens set on enjoying the town’s nightlife might also want to go to Sean’s pub which is the oldest pub in Europe.
Galway
Also known as Ireland’s Cultural Heart, Galway is a city known for its festivals and vibrant lifestyle. Hens that want the best of Irish culture should really consider going to this city. It is a major centre for Irish folk music and visitors can get the best of traditional Irish entertainment at the city’s numerous nightlife establishments.
Throughout the year, a lot of festivals, sports, arts, and music events are also held in this city, and it is also known for it’s art, science, and even food festivals. Hens that happen to be in Galway at the same time as some of those festivals or events should definitely check them out. Speaking of food, Galway has more restaurants per head than any other Irish city. Hens that love fish and seafood should know that a constant supply of those can be had in this city.
Wexford
Located at the southeastern tip of Ireland, Wexford is known for miles of coastline. That makes this town an excellent hen weekend location for more adventurous hens that enjoy spending time by the beach and water sports. Hens that choose to go to Wexford can look forward to enjoying windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking activities there.
Aside from its beaches, this town is also known for its theatre groups. This town is popular for hosting the Opera Festival which takes place every October. Hens that can appreciate theatre, opera, and other performing arts can have a great time in this town by catching some shows at the local opera house, Dun Mhuire Theatre, or Wexford Arts Centre.
Carrick on Shannon
Carrick on Shannon is a relatively small town in County Leitrim. This small town is now referred to as the Hen Party Capital of Ireland due to the number of hens that literally flock to the town during weekends. Though this town is known for having so many lakes in its vicinity, it is more popular for its vibrant nightlife.
The town’s nightlife makes it one of the best places for that hen party in Ireland. What’s more, hens who love the beautiful outdoors and also a touch of luxury can experience the best of both worlds by choosing to go glamping in this town for their hen night.
Limerick
Limerick is Ireland’s first City of Culture since its government really supports the development of the arts and local artists. The city is quite famous for its entertainment scene which makes it one of the best hen party locations in Ireland. The city is known for producing a lot of internationally famous performers and its numerous nightlife establishments offer all sorts of entertainment.
Hens that long for that big city experience can find this in Limerick. There are a lot of art and sports events that take place all year round. What’s more, as a big city, Limerick is one of the best places for hens that happen to be shopaholics.
These are just five of the best locations in Ireland for that hen night or weekend. There are certainly other towns and cities in Ireland that have a lot to offer hens. It all depends on what the bride-to-be wants for her celebration.

With the coming weeks and months likely to be filled with weddings, there will also be a number of hen parties taking place. If you’ve been put in charge of organising one and need fresh hen party ideas, these are some of the biggest trends from 2012.
1) Glitz and glamour
While many hen groups still like the traditional ‘L’ plates and veil approach, there is a growing trend for hens to want a more stylish and glamorous experience. As such, many hen party groups are opting for activities like ladies day at the races, where they can go glamorous for the day.
2) Cocktails
Cocktail masterclasses have become increasingly popular in recent years. These fun events involve groups getting to watch how their favourite cocktails are made, have a go at mixing their own and then sampling the drinks they make. Alternatively, a number of bars now serve a wide range of cocktails to kick-off hen dos in style.
3) Home soil
Hen parties can get quite expensive, which can make it difficult for everyone to afford. As a result, it’s more likely that people will opt to stay in the UK for their party rather than flitting off to the likes of Amsterdam or Paris. Those that do go abroad are likely to plan a second party closer to home that more people can attend.
4) Full weekend
While money is tight, there’s still a desire to make the most of the so-called ‘last night of freedom’ by spreading it out over a weekend. Maybe it’ll be renting an apartment in a UK city that the bride to be wants to party in, and arranging a day time activity that precedes a night on the tiles!
5) Adventure
When you think about stag parties, you think about go karting, days on the track, rock climbing and other fun activities. But there’s no reason why these events can’t be enjoyed just as much by women, and we can expect more hen parties to incorporate these sort of events from this summer onwards.

Want to party like the rich and famous? Even celebs like to let their hair down before they get married and here’s a run down of the top 5 celebrity hen parties – great inspiration for sophisticated hen party ideas.
Lily Allen, Location: London
Lily went with a great sophisticated hen party idea to celebrate her upcoming nuptials by enjoying a cookery lesson, but Lily went one step further than most and had it at the exclusive Savoy Grill at Claridge’s Hotel. Of course the wild side of Lily didn’t disappoint – she posted pictures of risque shaped straws and a strippers feet later in the night.
Martine McCutcheon, Location: Paris
The most famous ‘Eastend’ girl pulled out all the stops for a classy hen party before marrying Jack McManus. Along with 6 friends Martine headed to Paris to stay in the Hotel Plaza Athenee, which was the setting for Sex and the City. The group donned tuxedos for photos by the River Seine and Louvre art gallery before hitting the town.
Kym Marsh, Location: Puerto Banus
The Corrie star partied with Beverley Callard, Shobna Gulati and bizarrely, Antony Cotton, but Kym’s recent hen party to Puerto Banus nearly ended in tragedy when one of her friends was almost run over by a 4×4 after being pushed by a drunken British tourist.
The Saturdays (Rochelle Wiseman & Una Healy), Location: London
The Saturdays went for all out cheese during their last night of freedom, with sashes, feather boas, veils and the obligatory L-plates, painting London town red with best friend Myleene Klass.
Katy Perry, Location: Las Vegas
Her marriage to Russell Brand may have ended in tears but Katy Perry partied in style before her big day – well you would, with the Queen of Partying Rihanna organising your hen night. Katy and Ri-Ri headed to Las Vegas to catch a special Cirque de Soleil show, heading backstage after the show before partying the night away.
Of course it’s not just the girls who know how to throw a good party – celebrity guys can get wild too. JLS singer Marvin Hume had a member of the secret service MI5 organise his stag party which involved taking a private jet to Las Vegas. While there the stags enjoyed a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon and the sight of Marvin being humiliated by being handcuffed to a rapping dwarf and wearing a biking t-shirt.
