A smaller proportion of brides like to take their time when it comes to planning the big day with 7.5% preparing to wed in 2015 and 2% enjoying an extended engagement and waiting until after 2016.

A Brides biggest Wedding Day Worry
Thursday, March 7th, 2013A rainy wedding day is the biggest fear of British brides to be, a new survey has found.
The survey by professional hair products retailer Fabriah.com gave 1000 brides-to-be a list of ten wedding nightmares and asked them to choose which one they feared most.
Bad weather - 27% Stain on the dress – 18% Car breaking down - 15% Hair disaster - 11% Flowers wilting - 8% Getting the vows wrong - 7% Best man losing the rings -7% Cake collapsing - 4% Being ill - 2% Inappropriate comments in speeches - 1%
Disastrous weather easily topped the poll with well over a quarter (27%) of respondents naming it as their main fear and completely out of their control. In second place was the fear that the wedding dress could be either torn or stained on the way to the ceremony, with 18% of women put it as their number one worry. One in eight thought the wedding car breaking down would be the biggest disaster, whereas a hair catastrophe polled fourth, scoring 11% of the vote.
Almost one in ten respondents thought that the flowers wilting would be their main nuptial nightmare making it fifth on the list. In joint sixth place were getting the vows wrong and the best man losing the rings, both scoring seven per cent.
In seventh and eighth place were the fear of the cake collapsing and the bride being ill on the big day which achieved four and two per cent of the vote respectively. Rounding up the list in ninth place with only one per cent was the concern about embarrassing speeches at the reception.
Francesca Davies from Fabriah.com commented: “Although it’s considered as lucky, bad weather has the potential to spoil a wedding. On top of that it is one of the few things a bride has no power over. I was surprised to see embarrassing speeches at the reception come so far down the list. You would have thought the mixture of new in-laws, stress from organising the day and alcohol would be a recipe for disaster. We deliberately omitted being jilted at the altar from the top ten as we thought this would completely skew the results, after all it is the ultimate wedding nightmare which every bride-to-be would choose. Fortunately, it doesn’t happen very much.”
One bride-to-be commented: “I’ve been planning my wedding for the past seven months and the thought of any of the things on this list happening doesn’t bear thinking about. Most of the stuff at weddings you can control but it is the things you have no power over like the weather and the car breaking down which really makes me nervous.”
Another said: “Obviously I would be upset if I was ill on the wedding day but I’ve been planning this for so long that I will crawl down that aisle on my hands and knees if necessary!.”
Wedding Shows 2009 – Some Interesting Statistics
Friday, November 13th, 2009After many successful wedding shows throughout 2009, we have been gathering a little bit of information about the people who attended – and some of the statistics make for an interesting read. We had a look at the responses from our wedding shows at Newcastle (Metro & Racecourse), Harrogate (International Centre) and Liverpool (St Georges Hall).
Reason for Coming
Out of all of the attendees who were questioned throughout our wedding shows, 56% of them stated that inspiration was the reason for them attending. Only 1% of people were looking to try on outfits, but with so much to see during the day, that’s understandable!
The wedding shows we hosted this year proved to be extremely popular, so we hope some of you took some great ideas to make your wedding that extra bit special.
Wedding Budget
Budgeting a wedding can be a difficult task, but can you really put a price on the perfect day?
Well yes, and some of the big spenders in Harrogate were willing to pay between £25,000 and £50,000 for their perfect wedding, more than any of the other attendees at locations in the North of England! The two wedding show locations in Newcastle discovered that 43% of people were looking to spend £10,000 and £25,000, which appears to be the average throughout our wedding shows.
Below is a complete chart of the price ranges from across our wedding shows.
Were you one of the attendees at our wedding shows this year? How much are you planning to spend on your big day?
