Finding “the one”- Top tips for wedding dress shopping from Number 18

Imagine knowing that no one else will have the same dress as you on your wedding day… Finding “the one” can be a difficult task when searching for your wedding dress, but what happens if you just don’t get “that” feeling when you’re trying them on?

The North East Wedding Show exhibitors Number 18 are here to help with brides that have an idea of what they want but just cant find it!

“The reason behind why we set the business up and the idea that brides and their bridesmaids can literally have whatever they want is what makes us unique. Although we specialise in “vintage inspired” wedding dresses, we can also make other styles.

Having a bespoke dress made can seem a little daunting but it doesn’t need to be. At our studio, we have a range of sample dresses that we have made so that brides are able to try on various necklines, lengths and styles. This gives brides an idea of what suits them and from there, they can start designing their dress along with the help of us and our seamstress. We often encourage brides to create pin boards of various dresses they like so we can get a feel for their tastes and ideas of how they want to look on the big day.

We always get the question “what happens if I don’t like it?”. The dress is made in stages so brides can try on their dress whilst it is being made and work out if they want any changes or alterations rather than having the whole thing made and then changing their minds, this means that they can see their design coming together and they end up with their perfect dress.

Unlike other boutiques, we can if needs be have dresses made within 6 weeks so it’s ideal for brides that need a dress in short notice. The lead time is usually 12 weeks.

We also design and make bespoke bridesmaids dresses so that bridesmaids feel just as comfortable and confident on the day as the bride. We specialise in 1950’s inspired bridesmaids dresses. As well as bespoke and bridesmaids, we also offer a selection of original vintage wedding dresses which can be altered by our in house seamstress.

Prices start from as little as £795 so although the dresses are bespoke, they are also affordable. The price includes all design work, fittings and alterations if any are required.

It’s our first year exhibiting at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena in January so pop over and say hello - we’re on stand 11. There will be a range of dresses and bridesmaids dresses we have made in the past so brides can see what we have created and how they can go about designing their dress!”
